Lawrence "Zockey"Nelson 48, of Fairmont and formerly of Morgantown, died Tuesday, January 23. 2024. He was born on January 30, 1975 in Baltimore, MD to Patricia and William Nelson Sr. Lawrence aka "Larry" was a beloved husband to Amy Nelson, a loving and supportive father, son, and friend to so many. Lawrence was a big music lover and collector. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, and loved basketball. He could also be a clown and could keep a smile on everyone's face in a room. Lawrence had a contagious laugh and his smile could light up any room. Larry was so full of light, love, and laughter and will be so dearly missed by so many.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his sons, Tyler Nelson, Dimitri Christopher; father, William Nelson Sr.and his sister, Michelle Brown.
Larry is survived by his best friend and love of his life, his wife, Amy Nelson; his children, Keyana Nelson, Tyre Nelson, Shaelee Nelson, and Todd Buckingham-Nelson. He was G-Pa to his grandchildren; Serenity, Kristlyn, Zyaire, Meyko, Braxton, Weston, Monroe, and Amilia, nephew, Delonte Brown, brother, Ben Cox and wife Taylor, along with lifetime friends, Ralph and AnDrea Neal, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30. 2024 at Dering-Henson Funeral Home. All are welcome to join us for his Celebration of Life and Home Going Service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Caring services are provided by Dering-Henson Funeral Home.
